mineral explorationMineral Exploration – Each summer season Last Frontier contracts with mineral exploration companies performing a wide variety of operational tasks in some of the most remote regions of Alaska.  We are often involved with companies from their initial survey and staking of a new area, to in depth drilling programs requiring our pilots to have keen skills at precision long line operations.  Last Frontier has recently become adept with providing helicopters and pilots to airborne geophysical survey companies who provide electromagnetic data for mineral exploration companies down to 5000’ below the surface of the ground.

oilfieldOil Field – Last Frontier has been intricately involved in oil field support from year round contracts providing support to oil and gas platforms in Cook Inlet to summer seasonal support to remote fields on the North Slope.  Whether your needs call for surveying new fields or surveying for winter roads, to picking up trash left from winter drilling programs, Last Frontier can be of assistance with helicopter support.

educationEducation – Last Frontier enjoys providing helicopter transportation to groups involved in education.  Universities and education forums from around the world have used our helicopters to study global warming impacts, volcanoes and geology of all kinds, to remote survival and outdoor leadership programs right out of our home base in Chickaloon.

statefedState/Federal Agencies – Every year Last Frontier becomes involved in providing helicopter support for numerous Federal, FAA, and State DNR and ADF&G agencies from river navigability and wildlife studies to volcanoes study projects.  In addition Last Frontier assists in construction, maintenance and resupply of many remote communication and mountain pass camera sites around Alaska.

heliskismHeli Skiing – Every year between February and May Last Frontier participates in providing Astar B2 helicopters to several helicopter skiing guide companies around Alaska.  Alaska Backcountry Adventures and Southeast Alaska Backcountry Adventures are companies that exclusively use Last Frontiers helicopters for their guided skiing programs.  Occasionally Last Frontier works with individual guides to put together big mountain back country ski trip packages to areas less frequently travelled.  It has often been said that these exclusive trips become epic trips of a lifetime for the few who come across this opportunity.

videofilmVideo/Film – When it comes to helicopter aerial filming and locations scouting in Alaska for everything from Feature Films to Discovery Channel documentaries,  Reality television shows to Global warming expose’ with multiple format and equipment requirements, no one knows the ropes better than Last Frontier Air Ventures.  Every year we are involved in projects requiring Alaska’s magnificent glaciers, mountains and backcountry with film companies that come from all around the world.  From the largest Hollywood features to primetime network, news, sitcoms and reality shows, to car commercials and clothing catalogues, or simply global warming films with the smallest budget, we can set you up with the people it takes and the aircraft you will need in Alaska to pull it off.  With access to a host of aerial camera systems such as Cineflex, Spacecam, Wescam, Gyron, and Tyler mounts, as well as camera mounted gyro-stabilizing units, Last Frontier has great expertise in helping you get what you need on film.

constructionConstruction – If your project calls for long lining your entire remote cabin package, house, man camp, or even your 50 person, 8000 square foot lodge complex into a remote spot in the Alaskan wilderness, Last Frontier can help by flying it in one 1500 to 2000 lb sling load at a time until the jobs done.

aircraftAircraft Recovery – Alaska is teaming with small aircraft flying and  transporting people to and from our remote wilderness for all types of reasons, through all kinds of weather and all measures of terrain.  Occasionally some of those airplanes get left in the wilderness and are in need of a helicopter to assist them getting home.  Last Frontier has been involved in the extraction of over a hundred small planes and other helicopters that could not make it out under their own power.  This often requires well planed and delicate preparations and precision flying to get everyone and everything home safely.  For those of you who know what we are talking about, if your airplane’s in a fix and stuck out in the sticks, call us, we’ll be glad to help get it home.
